Passionate in ageing and health promotion with more than 2 decades of experience in community nursing and health, pursuing her passion in gerontology. I hold a Masters in Arts in Lifelong Learning (with a scholarship from the-then Workforce Development Agency), a BSc in Business and Management Studies (2nd Upper Hons), a Diploma in Nursing and a WSQ Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education. A firm believer of research informs practice. Partnering Dr Emi Kiyota, and Tsao Foundation, we designed and conducted a research study for SingHealth and used the findings to inform our creation of the Age-friendly Guide for SingHealth Ambulatory Centres. My thesis for her Masters was to explore the extent to which positive experiences of interpersonal doctor-patient communication motivates senior patients to comply with prescribed treatment; and to ascertain the motivating factors for doctors to participate in communication skills training. Currently, I am lecturing part-time at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, teaching the 3rd year medical students to use Motivational Interviewing skills to influence the health outcomes.
