Passionate in ageing and health promotion with more than 2 decades of experience in community nursing and health promotion, pursuing her passion in helping others live happier and healthier lives with mindfulness. I hold a Masters in Arts in Lifelong Learning (with a scholarship from the-then Workforce Development Agency), a BSc in Business and Management Studies (2nd Upper Hons), a Diploma in Nursing and a WSQ Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education. A firm believer of research informs practice. I formulated EASY with SUSAN health coaching framework incorporating core theories in human motivation and health promotion. My thesis for my Masters was to explore the extent to which positive experiences of interpersonal doctor-patient communication motivates senior patients to comply with prescribed treatment; and to ascertain the motivating factors for doctors to participate in communication skills training. Currently, I am lecturing part-time at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, teaching the 3rd year medical students to use Motivational Interviewing skills to influence the health outcomes, in addition to training the healthcare professionals in applying my framework to coach patients to achieve sustainable lifestyle changes. A mindfulness practitioner for almost three decades, I'm coaching individuals to apply mindfulness in life when they are stressed, feeling anxious, quitting an addictive habit, or simply just wanting to be happier!
