This course aims to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills for Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and usage of Automated External Defibrillator (AED), according to the guidelines provided by the Singapore Resuscitation & First Aid Council (SRFAC). Upon successful completion of the training, participants will receive a BCLS+AED certification with two years validity accredited by SRFAC.

Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the rescuer’s role in the chain of survival.
  • Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) effectively for adult and infant casualties.
  • Relief foreign body airway obstruction in a conscious and unconscious adult and infant casualties.
  • Use an AED correctly, safely and swiftly.

Course Outline

  • Adult one-man CPR
  • Relief of foreign body airway obstruction in an adult-conscious and unconscious situation
  • Infant CPR
  • Relief of foreign body airway obstruction in an infant-conscious and unconscious situation
  • Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Theory (Multiple Choice Questions)

Practical tests (Scenario-based)


Things to note during Phase 3
The Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and Ministry of Health (MOH) have allowed Singapore Heart Foundation to resume life support courses (i.e. CPR+AED certification courses and BCLS+AED certification courses).

The class size will be capped at 8 learners with effect from 24 August 2020.
