Fine motor / dexterity / handwriting training
Medical & Nursing Care
Ever felt that there is "room for improvement" in your handwriting? Or simply feel that you just -cannot- do tying of small knots, shoelaces well due to your fumbling fingers? Your fingers may need more training!
The human hand has fine muscles running through the palm and in between fingers, which helps us to perform minute tasks requiring fine movements (eg. sewing, picking up a coin, doing small buttons, writing well). Often due to a medical condition, or simple just because there is no demand for those movements growing up, these fine muscles are unable to coordinate as well to perform highly dexterous tasks.
At Heartland Rehab Occupational therapy, we can help you achieve better finger function by prescribing appropriate exercises/activities to train up these fine muscles through a thorough assessment.
